The San Francisco 49ers looked prime to win their second consecutive game

#1 von liny195 , 14.02.2019 03:41 , but it was not meant to be. The 49ers dropped a wild one to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football by a final score of 27-23. The 49ers fall to 2-8, while the Giants improve to 2-7. The 49ers move into the No. 2 spot in the draft order behind the Oakland Raiders. The fourth quarter was an absurdly wild finish to the game. The Giants took their eventual game-winning lead after back-and-forth penalties between the two teams. The 49ers got the ball back with a little over 50 seconds left, and managed to get down to the Giants 21 yard line with one second left. Mullens took his shot at the end zone but threw it out of anybody’s reach.Mullens’ second start did not go as well as his first start, but he also saw a couple bad breaks cost him. He finished the game completing 27 of 38 passes for 250 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. The first interception came on a bad throw across the field to the far sideline that Mullens did not have the arm strength to complete. The second interception came on a pass that bounced off Marquise Goodwin’s hands. That final Giants drive was brutal, but there were some positives to take from the game. Matt Breida looks healthy once again, rushing 17 times for 101 yards. George Kittle remains a machine , catching nine passes for 83 yards. Richard Sherman is looking good, mostly shutting down his side aside from a 13-yard Odell Beckham reception and a bad defensive pass interference call.On the other hand, the inconsistency of the pass rush reared its ugly head. The 49ers got one sack, and only a few pressures on Eli Manning all night. Ahkello Witherspoon regressed after a couple solid games. The 49ers got some big catches from Marquise Goodwin and Kendrick Bourne, but the group is still shaky. It was not an awful night for the 49ers by any stretch, but we saw some of the holes on full display. The 49ers have plenty to work on over the coming couple weeks. Speaking of which...Up next: BYE WEEKThe 49ers get the next week off, which is right in the middle of their most significant stretch of time off. The 49ers played the Raiders on Thursday Night Football last week , which means they had ten days off before their Week 10 MNF game. They now add in a bye week, which means they should be as well-rested as a team can be heading into Week 12. They face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after their bye.Robert Saleh offers comments on Jullian Taylor, Pita Taumoepenu The San Francisco 49ers defense has dealt with inconsistencies through the first quarter of the season. The unit is trying to get on track, and while we do see some positives, questions remain for a group that will need to step up further following the loss of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The defense is struggling in different areas, and that has brought up questions as to potential personnel changes. Most notably, people are wondering if rookie defensive lineman Jullian Taylor will get an opportunity.Taylor has been inactive for the first four games of the season. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh met with the media on Thursday Youth Jaquiski Tartt Jersey , and he was asked how Taylor is progressing.Taylor had some big moments in the preseason. In the opener against Dallas, he started in place of an injured Arik Armstead, and got work at both the LEO and strong end positions, but primarily at LEO. He had a sack, two quarterback hits, and three run stops. He was relatively quiet in the second and third preseason games, accumulating a quarterback hurry and an assist on a tackle. In the preseason finale Youth Alfred Morris Jersey , he had a sack and two quarterback hurries, along with one run stop. While Taylor impressed, I would be surprised to see him get an opportunity unless one of the defensive linemen gets hurt. At some point it might be worth some re-shuffling, but there are likely too many bodies ahead of him.Saleh got the same question about practice squad linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, and specifically whether or not he might get promoted at some point.Taumoepenu got work at the SAM linebacker and LEO edge rusher positions. He finished the preseason with six quarterback hurries and five run stops. He was part of final roster cuts before signing to the practice squad. With the move of Malcolm Smith to the SAM position and Taylor still a potential LEO option, I don’t expect Pita T to be promoted short of an injury to a current roster member.
